José Pinhal Post-Mortem Experience is a tribute band that honours José Pinhal, a romantic Portuguese singer from the 1980s. Formed in 2016 by João Sarnadas and other musicians from Porto’s underground scene, the band gained notoriety by reinterpreting Pinhal's songs, whose fusion of pimba (popular Portuguese music, typically associated to traditional parties) and synth-pop captured the attention of new generations. With a dancehall spirit and the perfect touch of nostalgia, the band has performed at festivals and iconic venues across the country, becoming a symbol of the rediscovery of Portuguese popular music. The group’s success has been widely recognised both nationally and internationally, with features in publications such as Público and The Guardian.
