Arquipélago – Centro de Artes Contemporâneas and Tremor festival present the new edition of Ciclo, a training initiative aimed at professionals and all those who are interested in the artistic scene, teachers, educators, and students in the education field. Starting in November 2023 and guided by Jorge Queijo, it aims to create new spaces for training and discussion around artistic practices and education, serving as a catalyst for the empowerment of agents and the local population.
The training is aimed at everyone interested in learning tools to develop creativity, study and integration of non-formal methods in the different projects of each participant. Through the discussion of their processes, participants are invited to develop projects that fit into local structures and communities, and also personal artistic projects.
Goals:
Develop generalised creative processes
Explore and develop individual creativity
Develop tools for creating local projects
Enhance the artistic qualities of the individual for the benefit of the whole
Create of working groups that can develop future work in their respective communities
Awaken new ideas for the territory

JORGE QUEIJO’S BIOGRAPHY
Jorge Queijo was born in Trás-os-Montes and lives in Porto. Musician, multi-instrument player, composer, sound artist, producer and teacher /trainer. He has a degree in Jazz from the Porto School of Music and Performing Arts and completed his master's degree in Music Leadership from the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London.
Since 2018, he has been the coordinator of the Matosinhos Jazz Orchestra Educational Program.
Since 2023, he has represented Casa da Música do Porto at Tokyo Bunka Kaikan, being part of the team that coordinates the implementation of an Educational Service from scratch at the renowned Bunka Kaikan music hall.
He is part of the team of trainers for the Animators course at Casa da Música do Porto.
He composes music for cinema, dance, theater, video, sound installations and children's shows.
Creator of the installation Blind Box about the importance of sound in journeys taken by blind people at Casa da Música in Porto and the show 1.12 mm in the brain, based on experiences with Magnetic Resonance Imaging and Encephalograms, presented in London.
In 2012, he developed the Ópera de Todos project for Guimarães, European Capital of Culture, with 140 members from Cercigui.
He was co-director of the Casa da Música Gamelan Ensemble between 2014-2019 and studied Gamelan at the ISI University of Arts in Yogyakarta, with the support of the Indonesian embassy.
He has extensive experience in creating, designing, and implementing multidisciplinary projects.
