The work of a stage manager is always hard, but everyone who does it at Tremor should be decorated at Palácio de Santana. From concerts right next to waterfalls, to rain every other hour and having to assemble instruments apparently forged in strange worlds, it’s one big itch for a person to scratch. Giving us a peek behind the curtain of this part of the festival, we asked Nuno Biónico for a memory seen from the stage. He told us about Free Love, in Tremor 2019:
«That year, the Arco 8 stage was supposed to close with the band Za!. However, Free Love, who were going to play at Garagem do Varela first, had a series of problems with the flights and the two bands had to switch. They managed to arrive just in time, about an hour before the start of the concert, after having spent almost 24 hours in airports. As you can imagine, they arrived exhausted and a bit anxious, uncertain whether they would have time to do a soundcheck. But when they arrived, we already had everything set up, they managed to do a very quick soundcheck and then, very coyly, they asked for a gin and rum. They ended up giving one of the greatest concerts of this festival’s history. After the concert, they had about an hour to recover before they had to go to the airport and catch another plane. They were superheroes. The entire technical team was incredible for managing to pull off a small miracle like this.»
