Tremor’s core mission is to act as a catalyst for the renewal of the Azores' artistic fabric, positioning itself as a strategic platform that supports creation through direct dialogue with local communities. The festival transforms the island of São Miguel into a "creative shipyard", where new Azorean music is given a prominent stage on equal footing with global cultural trends.
One of the fundamental pillars of this support is artistic creation, which uses residencies to foster encounters between local artists and visitors. A prime example is the long-standing collaboration with the Escola de Música de Rabo de Peixe, the festival's resident band, which over the years has worked with artists from various geographies to create original performances for the event. Following this same collaborative and inclusive logic, the festival spurred the creation of the Som Sim Zero collective. This project brings together the artistic structure ondamarela, members of the Association of the Deaf of São Miguel Island (ASISM), and local musicians, and has been responsible since 2019 for multidisciplinary shows designed around the experiences and ideas of the island's inhabitants.
The commitment to developing the archipelago's human and artistic capital is further reinforced by Faísca – a open call that selects four Azorean artists or bands to join the festival line-up, providing them with essential windows of visibility. This support strategy extends to the partnership with Rádio Vaivém, which promotes the debut of emerging artists, and to Ciclo – a training space developed in collaboration with the Arquipélago - Contemporary Arts Centre. The latter focuses on the capacity building of resident cultural agents, directly strengthening the local ecosystem.
By integrating creators into concert circuits, exhibitions, and community projects, Tremor ensures that "Azoreanity" is no longer merely a theme, but an active force in building the region's cultural future.
