The visual identity of Tremor 2026 stems from an exploration of the architectural heritage of the Azores — from vernacular aesthetics, decorative arts, and the textures of the human-shaped landscape. Facades, tile patterns, vivid colors, symbols, and sculptures that mark the history of local houses were collected and reimagined as motifs for the festival’s communication. Based on a photographic survey conducted by Mariana Lopes, this visual collection results in an emotional mapping of the island of São Miguel, its houses, and its living or dormant spaces.
This is a subject that is by no means detached from our present, especially in the year when Tremor gains a new home, right in the center of Ponta Delgada. A space for gathering, creation, and reflection, designed with time in mind and built to last, in contrast to the ephemeral nature that so often characterizes cultural and urban life. This new home aims to be a place of belonging and a shelter for ideas, affections, and new beginnings.
