Itiberê Zwarg is one of the leading figures in Brazilian instrumental music, with an established career as a bass player, composer, arranger, and educator. Introduced to music by his father, Antônio Bruno Zwarg, he began his career in the 1960s as a member of the trios Xangô Três and Bossa Jazz Trio.
In 1977, he began a new and remarkable musical chapter by joining the legendary Hermeto Pascoal & Grupo, where he remains to this day. Since 1992, Itiberê has developed his own path as a composer and arranger, collaborating on various projects and recordings. In 1999, he founded the Itiberê Orquestra Família, a group of young musicians that became a reference in the practice of Música Universal — a concept created by Hermeto Pascoal that blends improvisation, collective composition, and creative freedom.
Also recognized as an educator, Itiberê developed his own teaching methodology for Música Universal, conducting workshops across Brazil and abroad. His work has influenced generations of musicians and contributed to spreading an innovative, inclusive, and deeply creative approach to music.
